As the 2023-2024 season comes to a close, CHARS Youth FC reflects on yet another fantastic year filled with memorable achievements and heartwarming moments. This season, our club has exemplified the true spirit of grassroots football, demonstrating excellence on the pitch and fostering a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere off it. We are immensely proud of the progress and accomplishments of all our teams, and we are thrilled to share some of the highlights from this remarkable season.


U10 Blues Triumph at ESF 2024 Tournament


Our U10 Blues shone brightly this season, culminating in their spectacular victory at the ESF 2024 tournament held at Butlins Bognor Regis over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Competing against some of the best youth teams in the region, our boys displayed outstanding skill, determination, and teamwork to lift the coveted trophy. Their success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the players and their coaches, and we could not be prouder of their achievement.


U9 Greens Capture the U9 MHRML Blue Division Cup


In their very first season, our U9 Greens made an indelible mark by winning the U9 MHRML Blue Division Cup. This young team, full of promise and potential, has impressed everyone with their tenacity and passion for the game. Winning a major trophy in their debut season is a remarkable feat and bodes well for their future development. The U9 Greens' success highlights the strength of our club's youth programme and the bright future ahead for CHARS Youth FC.


A Word from Our Chairman


Chairman Joe Westmacott shared his thoughts on the season: "It's been another incredible year for CHARS Youth FC. The success of our U10 Blues and U9 Greens is a reflection of the fantastic community we have built here. Our players, coaches, and families all contribute to making this club a special place. We are not just about winning trophies; we are about fostering a love for football, developing young talent, and creating lifelong friendships. I'm extremely proud of everyone involved and excited about what the future holds."


Thank You to Our Coaches


We owe a massive debt of gratitude to our amazing coaches who give their time voluntarily to coach and develop our boys. The dedication and commitment they demonstrate is truly remarkable. Until you’ve done the job, it’s hard to fully appreciate the late nights spent planning training drills, working out team selections and match tactics, coordinating with opposition coaches, and arranging referees. Your efforts make a significant impact on our players and our club, and we cannot thank you enough.


Behind the Scenes Heroes


Our club's success also relies heavily on the tireless work of those behind the scenes. A special thank you goes to our club secretary, Mark James, who handles the club’s administrative tasks, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. From managing registrations and correspondence to keeping records and liaising with league officials, Mark’s role is indispensable.


We also extend our gratitude to Paul Lincoln for his meticulous work in arranging all our fixtures and match results and sending them off to MHRML. Paul's attention to detail ensures that our teams are always well-organised and that our matches run without a hitch.


Appreciation for Our Parents


A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents who get involved and help with team admin, and to all parents for their unwavering support. Whether it’s transporting the players to matches, assisting with logistics, or simply cheering from the sidelines, your support is invaluable. Week in and week out, come rain or shine (and boy have we had a lot of rain!), your presence and enthusiasm make all the difference.
